In the digital era, a company’s website is a critical asset, serving as the first impression for many customers. This was the guiding principle for Capitol Tech Solutions (CTS) when we embarked on a website development project for Celadon, a distinguished OEM manufacturer specializing in custom remote control and receiver systems. With over 30 years of industry experience, Celadon’s expertise spans across consumer, medical, educational, and various other applications. However, their digital presence was not mirroring this expertise, as their existing website, self-built years ago, had become significantly outdated.
Recognizing the need for a digital revamp, CTS was brought on board to spearhead this transformation. The project’s cornerstone was enhancing the website’s Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – a critical component for online visibility and business growth. CTS’s strategy involved not just redesigning the website but also educating the client on SEO best practices to ensure long-term benefits.
The central challenge of this project was the fact that CTS was contracted for the design and development of only 10 website pages for a site that would end up needing numerous product and blog pages. To address this, CTS developed an innovative solution: the creation of webpage templates. These templates were designed to be both visually appealing and user-friendly, enabling Celadon to efficiently manage and update their product information as needed. Each template could be duplicated and populated by the client, ensuring that each Celadon product could have its own dedicated page, displaying variable details.
Empowering Celadon to manage their website independently was a key objective for CTS. To accomplish this, an extensive training session was held, during which the Celadon team was trained in the necessary skills to efficiently add and modify product listings on their website. This training was pivotal, as it enabled Celadon to actively populate their website with detailed product information ahead of its launch.
This client-focused approach extended beyond product pages. CTS also developed templates for long- and short-form blogs, streamlining the process of adding new content to the website. The client expressed a strong desire for the blog section to mimic the appearance of a Facebook feed both on the website and when the blog was shared. To achieve this, Melinda Bekker, the Creative Director at CTS, skillfully designed the blog pages to capture this specific aesthetic. Complementing her design, Clifton Forlee, the Senior UI Developer at CTS, engineered custom code that automatically populated shared blog links with pertinent blog details and images, aligning with the desired Facebook-like appearance.
The successful completion of this project marked a significant achievement for CTS. The firm not only delivered a modernized, SEO-optimized website but also empowered the Celadon team with the tools and knowledge for continuous digital success. This collaboration between CTS and Celadon demonstrates the power of understanding client needs and delivering tailor-made solutions that are both innovative and practical, setting a new standard in client satisfaction.
